M.I.A. has been hard at work on the much anticipated follow-up to her 2007 breakout album Kala, due sometime this summer. Having worked with Baltimore producer Blaqstarr on much of the new material, she promises a fresh sound and more singing than on her previous effort. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, she explained, “I just stopped singing on the last one because I put more emphasis into production, so I was more about making beats and sang less on my last album.” The critically acclaimed artist also recruited the help of some Filipino phone company workers on the hilariously titled new track “I’m Down Like Your Internet Connection”.
