Artists on the tour included Matt & Kim, A-Trak, MSTRKRFT, and Major Lazer. SPIN was there to follow the artists from coast to coast! Check [...]
GRIN AND (GRATEFUL) BEAR IT
A-Trak fans already know that the DJ and artist/designer Dust La Rock have collaborated on many projects, including A-Trak’s grateful bear insignia. The bear is now officially yours for purchase at Kidrobot: It’s an eight-inch “soft vinyl” figurine, complete with “gold-plated necklace, leather cuff, cotton sweatband, snow-capped igloo, fitted baseball hat, and wayfarers”—all for $50.
Interview with Matt Goldman
Graphic designer and event promoter Matt Goldman—also known as MFG—may actually have the best job in the world: He’s a graduate of Shepard Fairey’s renowned Studio Number One, where he was a senior art director, and now he puts together some of the best parties on the planet. We were lucky enough to put his skills to use on this gorgeous poster promoting the BACARDI B-LIVE series this summer, and even luckier to chat with him about working with Shepard Fairey,Team Diplo, and why he’s so devoted to music.
Sweet Tweets
You already knew our B-Live artists were skilled on the decks. But it turns out they’re pretty darn entertaining with the words too.
Follow them on Twitter and get a taste of the superstar DJ life, as told by the guys who are living it.
Raising The Bar
We already knew that A-Trak was upping the ante for mashup DJs with his unique mix of modern dance, disco, and electro-rock. Now he says he’s ready to challenge all varieties of touring jocks.
Hello Hotlanta!
BlackedOutAtlanta.com’s Reed Dailey gets the tip-off from yours truly about B-Live’s big July 3 gig.
SANTIGOLD AT LOLLA
After a few summers of tremendous European festivals, I’m actually thinking that the best line-up for the season is Chicago’s own Lollapalooza, which just confirmed it’s much-rumored-about schedule. We have TV on the Radio, Animal Collective, Arctic Monkeys, Andrew Bird, the Killers, Kings of Leon, the Beastie Boys, Jane’s Addiction—and personal favorite (and B-Live artist) Santigold.
B-LIVE Miami: The Wrap-Up
Now that was awesome—this year’s kick-off event for BACARDI B-Live just wrapped up, and I’m pleased to report that it was a thorough success. I’m a little sunburned, thoroughly hyped up, and definitely ready for whatever comes next.
